J. Allen Brack resigns as CEO for Blizzard
04.08.2021 09:59During these last weeks Activision Blizzard has been in abit of a bad publicity storm. The gaming giant has received a lot of negative publicity for its internal macho culture and the company has been sued for discrimination and employees have started a strike. Now it all seems to be bearing some fruit as J. Allen Brack, who replaced Mike Morhaime as CEO of Blizzard 2018, will resign and be replaced by Jen Oneal and Mike Ybarra. In a statement, Brack said:
“I am confident that Jen Oneal and Mike Ybarra will provide the leadership Blizzard needs to realize its full potential and will accelerate the pace of change. I anticipate they will do so with passion and enthusiasm and that they can be trusted to lead with the highest levels of integrity and commitment to the components of our culture that make Blizzard so special. ”
This is probably just the beginning of all the restructuring of the company that will be needed to get their company start running again and out of the bad weather.
Windows 365 for companies
04.08.2021 09:40A few weeks ago, Microsoft finally introduced its cloud-based operating system Windows 365 and now the gang has started making the system available to people. Or at least people in companies. Companies have the opportunity to start subscriptions of the operating system and there are a lot of options depending on how much cream you need. The lowest level is about $26 excluding VAT and then you get access to a virtual computer for a user with a processor core, 2GB of frame and 64GB of storage. At the other end, we find an eight-core processor, 32GB of RAM and 512GB of storage for around $175 a month per user.

Spotify is testing a cheaper subscription
03.08.2021 12:31Spotify has started testing a new subscription level that they call Spotify Plus. With Spotify Plus, you can still listen to commercials at regular intervals, but there are no limits to how often you can skip to the next song and users can also specifically choose which songs they want to listen to.
Spotify Plus costs about one euro a month, however, Spotify mentioned to The Verge that there are no guarantees that this new subscription level will be launched in its current form.
"Some tests end up paving the way for new offerings or enhancements while others may only provide learnings. We do not have any additional information to share at this time."
It remains to be seen if Spotify can make Spotify Plus work and if it will be launched to the masses at some point.
Ubisoft and Bungie are suing Ring-1
02.08.2021 08:41Cheaters in games are seldom fun to deal with and game developers are constantly working to keep these ugly players away from their games. Now Ubisoft and Bungie have put their foot down for a couple of individuals who are alleged to be behind the software Ring-1, which gives users access to nasty things like aimbot, wallhacks and other cheating functions above other players, for a stable amount of 30 euros a week, or 60 a month.
The lawsuit was filed last week and in it the two companies write, among other things, this:
- "Cheaters ruin the experience of playing the Games. Not only do cheaters impair the enjoyment of gameplay by non-cheaters with whom they interact in-game, but cheaters also illegitimately obtain and thereby devalue the in-game rewards that non-cheaters obtain legitimately. ”
PlayStation 5 reaches ten million units sold
31.07.2021 16:57Sony has announced that the PlayStation 5 has now reached a new milestone as it has now sold more than 10 million copies since the console was released on November 12 last year.
The fact that Sony sold so many devices in such a short time means that it is now Sony's fastest selling console ever.
Sony continues to invest heavily in trying to get more devices out to consumers, how well they will succeed with that, we will probably find out when Santa Claus comes in a few months.
Microsoft has also succeeded well with its new console. Both the Xbox Series X and S also sell better than the company's previous Xbox consoles. Microsoft has not provided exact sales figures, but it is estimated that these consoles sold approximately 6.5 million units in total.
