Steam Deck - fully reserved for 2021

Valve has earlier this week announced a release of a handheld gaming device - named Steam Deck, which will be released during autum 2021. Just a few days later after the announcing of the device, it was already over booked with reservations for 2021 (like everything else during 2020 and 2021). It is therefor now only possible to reserve your own copy for Q1 2022 with a $5 deposit, however depending on your location and size of the units storage space, it seems some might not see it until late 2022.
The price for the unit ranges between 399 to 649 dollars:
$399 for the 64GB version
$529 for the 256GB version
$649 for the 512GB version
Question is though, if this is a device that is really needed in this period of time or if they instead should've worked further on one of their previous hardware projects (that all - except for Valve Index - have all been closed down).
