Scarlett Johansson is suing Disney
The Wall Street Journal reports that actress Scarlett Johansson is now suing Disney over their release strategy for Black Widow, the latest Marvel movie starring Johansson.
Johansson believes that Disney's strategy to release Black Widow in both cinemas and Disney's streaming service Disney+ is a breach of contract against her contract with the company. According to the lawsuit, Black Widow would premiere only in cinemas according to Johansson's contract, something that did not happen.
Johansson receives a partial salary based on how much Black Widow draws in cinemas and believes that the amount was lower due to Disney releasing the film on Disney+ at the same time as the film premiered in cinemas. According to the Wall Street Journal, Johansson may have lost as much as $ 50 million in salary for Black Widow because the film did not only premiere in cinemas.
