Netflix confirms that it is going into the games market. It can be a way to attract new subscribers, when the increase has leveled off within the movie streaming market.

To begin with, the American streaming giant will focus mainly on mobile games.

Like the movie and series, the company will create its own titles, take advantage of existing brands and license games to fill the library.

Product Manager Greg Peters says according to The Hollywood Reporter that Netflix does not have to think about ads, microtransactions or that every game has to sell.

- We can actually do what we have done on the film and series side, which is to laser focus on delivering the most entertaining gaming experiences we can, he says.

In addition to games, Netflix will also invest in podcasts in the future, and it has hired N’Jeri Eaton, who was previously content manager for the segment at Apple.

Netflix expects 3.5 million new customers globally in the next quarter, which is significantly fewer than expected, and in the first interim report its shown that they gained 1.5 million subscriptions world wide but sadly lost 430 000 subscriptions in the US.
